Our Story

Island Hop Brewery (IHB) was born out of a shared passion among its six founders for quality craft beer. Over the years, each founder enjoyed exceptional craft beers from around the world but grew increasingly frustrated by the lack of variety and quality in the Seychelles beer market, dominated by mass-produced lagers. Their frustration eventually led them to a common realization: the need to bring craft beer to Seychelles. With the stars and planets aligning, they decided to take matters into their own hands. Thus, Island Hop Brewery was established to fill this void, offering not only a product for them to enjoy but also a new option for the discerning beer drinkers of Seychelles.

Our Vision

At Island Hop Brewery, our vision is to bring quality craft beer to Seychelles, filling a gap in the local market that currently lacks such offerings. We aim to offer an alternative to the mass-produced lagers that dominate the shelves, providing a craft beer experience that prioritizes freshness, quality, and sustainability. Our goal is to introduce Seychelles to the diverse and artisanal world of craft beer, setting new standards in the local beverage industry. As we grow, we hope to foster a culture that appreciates the craftsmanship and unique flavors of locally brewed beer, all while minimizing our environmental impact through keg-only distribution and, eventually, refillable mini growler kegs.

Our Beer

At IHB, we are dedicated to crafting high-quality artisanal beers using the finest ingredients, including water sourced from a pristine natural river on our property. We are starting our journey with an IPA and a blonde ale, both brewed with the same passion and precision that have guided us from the beginning. But our offerings will not stop there. We plan to introduce seasonal brews, influenced by customer feedback and the unique natural ingredients found in Seychelles. Our goal is to continually delight our customers with new and exciting flavors while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Our Partner

Island Hop Brewery is proud to be partnered with Barbarons Estate Distillery (BED), a startup that shares our commitment to quality and authenticity. BED produces high-quality spirits, including whiskey, gin infused with indigenous Seychellois flora and fruits, and spiced rum made with natural spices and fruits from the islands. By sharing resources and co-locating at the historic Chateau d’Eau Hotel, IHB and BED create a synergy that enhances both of our offerings. This partnership allows us to deliver a more comprehensive experience to our customers, offering not just beer but also a taste of Seychelles’s rich history and natural bounty.

Our Location

Our brewery is nestled in the lush, natural surroundings of the historic Chateau d’Eau Hotel, near Anse Cimetière beach in Barbarons, Mahé, Seychelles. This location is a mere 300 meters off West Coast Road and is steeped in history, with the hotel constructed entirely of granite stone harvested on-site. Surrounded by an abundance of greenery and close to the ocean, our brewery offers a perfect setting for creating and enjoying craft beer. Visitors can immerse themselves in the local pirate history through tours, visit our gift shop, and relax at our bar, which serves both IHB beer and BED’s spirits. Whether you are a local or a visitor, our location provides a unique experience that combines history, natural beauty, and the best of Seychelles’s craft beverages.
